Join us for a relaxing, hands-on afternoon in Crows Nest. Whether you are coming with a partner, a dear friend, or taking yourself on a creative "solo-date," you’ll learn the beautiful Japanese art of Kokedama (moss ball planting) and create a living piece of art to take home.

Designed for all experience levels, this workshop can be a meaningful date activity or a calming self-care afternoon. It’s a space to slow down, create something beautiful, and enjoy being present.

Mini Kokedama Workshop - Lunar New Year Taster

As part of Willoughby City Council’s vibrant and community-driven Lunar New Year Festival, running from 12–28 February, we are honored to be one of the featured activities within the Lunar Wellness Hub.

This Mini Kokedama Workshop is a festival-exclusive taster session, created to bring a calm and mindful plant-making experience into the heart of the celebrations. Set within the Lunar Wellness Hub — a thoughtfully curated space that blends nature, mindfulness and creativity — the workshop invites participants to slow down, reconnect and enjoy a gentle moment of making.

You’ll be guided through the Japanese art of kokedama (moss ball planting) and create a small living piece to take home, designed as a simple and welcoming introduction to this beautiful practice.

While inspired by the season of love and renewal, this workshop is for everyone (beginner-friendly) — whether you’re sharing the moment with someone special or enjoying a quiet act of self-care.

Note:

This mini workshop is a festival-style introduction and a gesture of community appreciation. It’s shorter than our full version, which offers a deeper, more relaxing, and immersive kokedama-making experience.

Plants shown in images are for reference only. Actual plant selection may very depending on availability on the day.

Please arrive 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. There will be council staff on site (The Concourse) to assist and guide participants to the correct workshop area.
